About Collins:
Doug Collins was born to Lenard and Dorothy Copelan Collins in Gainesville, Ga., in 1966.
In 1988, Collins attended the University of North Georgia and received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Criminal Law. That same year, Collins married his wife, Lisa, and eventually they had three children: Copelan, Cameron, and Jordan.
In 1994, Doug Collins began pastoring Chicopee Baptist Church in Gainesville, Ga., and would remain a senior pastor there for 11 years.
In 2002, Collins enlisted in the U.S. Air Force Reserves as a chaplain. Between 2008-2009, he was deployed to Iraq and stationed at Balad Air Force Base. Now a Lieutenant Colonel, he remains an active Air Force Reservist.
In 2013, he was elected to represent the people of Georgia’s 9th Congressional District, after serving three consecutive terms as a Georgia State representative.
In January 2020, Collins was selected to be on President Trump’s impeachment team. Later that same month, Collins announced his intentions to run for the U.S. Senate.
