About Gideon:
Sara Gideon is speaker of the Maine House of Representatives. Under governors of both parties, Gideon has shown an ability to deliver results.
She’s made expanding access to affordable health care a priority by helping pass a law that cracks down on pharmaceutical companies, increasing drug pricing transparency to help control the cost of prescription drugs.
Gideon’s bipartisan LIFT legislation has focused on expanding educational opportunities.
Gideon believes in a woman’s right to choose. She’s been a leading voice in the legislature to draw attention to and deliver resources to combat Maine’s opioid epidemic.
Gideon’s work has been credited with giving law enforcement and families the tools they need to help save lives. And when former Gov. LePage vetoed Gideon’s opioid legislation she brought Democrats and Republicans together to override that veto.
