Department of Defense Increases COVID-19 Measures for Pentagon Reservation
The U.S. Department of Defense has recently increased health protection policies at the Pentagon Reservation in response to an increase in positive COVID-19 cases in the National Capital Region over the past two weeks.
Effective as of Monday, Jan. 10, and expected to continue through the end of January, the health protection policy will apply to the Pentagon Reservation and armed forces retirement home campuses in Washington, D.C., and Gulfport, Mississippi.
The policy instructs the director of administration and management at the Department of Defense to move the Pentagon Reservation to an occupancy limit of less than 25%, continue maximum telework opportunities, ensure guidance on testing and isolation or quarantine procedures are followed, and that employees wear masks and socially distance at all times while indoors.
Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks emphasized in a memo that she intends to comply with the occupancy limits set by the director of administration and management to the fullest extent possible in their workplaces, including maximum telework capability for classified and unclassified work and, where necessary, the rotating or sharing of work assignments for mission-critical tasks that can only be performed at the workplace.
