WASHINGTON — The Department of Energy’s Bioenergy Technologies Office is partnering with the Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico to present a virtual workshop on the cybersecurity risks in biofuel and bioproduct manufacturing.

The Microsoft Teams session will be held on Sept. 11 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time (10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Pacific time).

According to a joint announcement from the two event hosts, the workshop is intended to raise awareness of the importance of cybersecurity in biomanufacturing safety, operational continuity and competitiveness.

The event, which will consist of a series of panel presentations, will also explore the risks and potential consequences to biofuel and bioproduct production that stem from cybersecurity vulnerabilities.

At the same time, the department and lab will gather stakeholder input on what research and development is needed to fill the cybersecurity capability gaps at the nation’s bioenergy facilities.

Those interested in registering may do so here.
