Budzinski Joins Overdose, Addiction Working Groups
Rep. Nikki Budzinski, D-Ill.

WASHINGTON — Rep. Nikki Budzinski, D-Ill., has joined the Bipartisan Fentanyl Prevention Caucus and the Bipartisan Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Task Force where, she says, she will work across the aisle on solutions to the ongoing addiction crisis.

“Every day, too many of our loved ones struggle with mental health and substance use disorders,” the freshman member said in a written statement.

“We have to fight back against the stigmas that keep folks from speaking up or seeking help,” she said.

The Bipartisan Fentanyl Prevention Caucus aims to work with federal and state law enforcement to combat the nationwide spike in fentanyl-related overdoses and drug poisonings.

Members will also work to educate the public and the Congress, in cooperation with prevention and awareness groups to better understand the ongoing threat of fentanyl in communities across America.

The Bipartisan Fentanyl Prevention Caucus is chaired by Reps. Joe Neguse, D-Colo., Madeleine Dean, D-Pa., Darrell Issa, R-Calif., and Ken Calvert, R-Calif.

The Bipartisan Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Task Force is composed of more than 130 members of Congress working across the aisle to combat the mental health and substance use disorder epidemics in American communities.

In the 117th Congress, the task force successfully passed 26 of its bills into law, all of which were led or co-led by both a Republican and a Democrat.

The Bipartisan Addiction and Mental Health Task Force is chaired by Reps. Lisa McClain, R-Mich., David Trone, D-Md., Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., and Annie Kuster, D-N.H.
