This Week in Washington: CBCF Annual Legislative Conference

The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) kicks off its Annual Legislative Conference (ALC) today in Washington, DC and will feature thought leaders, legislators and concerned citizens from across the country who are engaged in economic development, civil and social justice, public health and education issues. With more than 9,000 people attending and 70 public policy forums, ALC is the leading policy conference on issues impacting African Americans and the global black community.

Things to know about this year’s ALC:

Rep. Cedric Richmond, CBC Chair, will join A. Shuanise Washington, CBCF President and CEO, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, CBCF Board Member, and Senators Cory Booker and Kamala Harris, Honorary Co-Chairs, in headlining the annual event.

Honorees include:

John David Washington, Trendsetter Award

Laurence J. Fishburne III, Lifetime Achievement Award

Michelle Ebanks, Trailblazer Award

Bernice A. King, Woman of Truth Award

Hon. Barbara Lee, CBC Woman of the Year Award

Hon. Frederica Wilson, CBC Woman of Courage Award

Agenda:

The packed schedule includes policy forums and exhibits on everything from business, economic development and wealth creation to criminal justice and women and culture. It will also feature a professional development series facilitated by industry experts and focused on continuing professional development certification in specific industries.
