MS-03: Michael Guest (R)
Michael Guest is the current District Attorney for Madison and Rankin Counties, and is a Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in Mississippi’s Third Congressional District. Michael is a lifelong conservative with a strong Christian faith. Michael believes in limited government, traditional Mississippi values, free market economic principles of lower taxes and fewer regulations, protecting the right to life of the unborn, a strong national defense with full support of our men and women in the military, and keeping our 2nd Amendment gun rights and the other individual rights and liberties guaranteed to us by our Constitution.
For the past 22 years, as District Attorney and Assistant District Attorney, Michael Guest has led the prosecution of 20,000 criminals and has sent a strong message that if laws are broken, offenders will be punished and that strong sentences will be imposed. Guest has worked with the media to launch The DA’s Most Wanted, which has been successful in capturing dozens of criminals who failed to return to court to face the penalty for their crime. His office has supported law enforcement agencies by providing them more than $20 million money seized from those who sell or transport drugs. The District Attorney’s office has also successfully recovered more than $3.5 million through their Bad Check Unit to help local merchants and businesses. With 22 years of experience, Guest has prosecuted hundreds of cases and obtained guilty verdicts against criminals charged with murder, manslaughter, armed robbery, sexual battery, aggravated assault, kidnapping, house burglary, and drug sales.
Michael has taken strong stances on key issues he will support if elected to Congress. These issues include stopping illegal immigration by having tougher border security including building a wall on our southern border, which will also hinder the smuggling of drugs across our border; increasing the capability and capacity of our local police officers to keep our communities safe; advancing the development of a strong military to keep Americans safe at home and abroad; standing with Israel against terrorist groups; promoting fair trade so America can remain prosperous and our workers can compete on a level playing field; standing up for the right to life of the unborn; protecting and promoting our Constitutional rights and freedoms including our 2nd Amendment rights.
Michael serves as President of the Foundation for Rankin County Public Schools and serves on the Boards of the State and Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers. In 2014, Michael was recognized as the Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers Board Member of the year. As a member of the Brandon Baptist Church, Guest serves his church family as a boys’ Sunday school teacher and as a deacon. Michael also volunteers as a mock trial coach for the award-winning Brandon High School mock trial team.
Michael is married to the former Haley Kennedy and together they have two boys, Kennedy and Patton. Michael was raised in Brandon by his parents, Pat and Terry Guest, who instilled in Michael the traditional family values he stands for today. Michael would like to thank his parents for being an example of strong parents who continue to be a positive influence in the lives of their grandchildren.
