Coalition Created to Establish Best Practices for AI in Health Care

Leaders from the Brookings Institution, Cleveland Clinic, Duke Health, University of Virginia, and other public and private partnerships recently formed a coalition called the Artificial Intelligence Industry Innovation Coalition, known as AI3C, to establish recommendations and best practices for the use of AI in health care.

According to a statement from Patty Obermaier, vice president of the coalition, the newly created AI3C will identify and address significant societal and industry barriers, and how to better serve the needs of patients and communities through AI innovation.

The coalition aims to achieve these goals by showcasing emerging AI tools, gathering industry-specific AI use cases and best practices, transforming the AI workforce and preparing students for careers in AI and data science. It will also engage the health care community through white papers, new tools and programs, and social media outreach.

The establishment of AI3C follows the December 2020 launch of the National Coalition for Artificial Intelligence in Financial Services.
