WASHINGTON — The National Archives and Records Administration on Tuesday released 573 pages of internal emails related to 15 boxes of materials the agency received from former President Donald Trump last January.

The documents, the third such tranche released by the agency, are its response to nearly 50 Freedom of Information Act requests it has received from companies and individuals seeking records related to the now notorious boxes.

The internal NARA emails released today include 266 that are pages in full, and 307 others that are partially redacted.

The agency also said today that it is withholding 1,832 pages in full, under FOIA exemptions that apply to its internal deliberations, privileged communications between Trump’s representatives, federal agencies and Congress, information concerning active law enforcement proceedings, and information that would clearly be an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy.

“NARA will continue to review additional responsive information in the coming months for possible release,” the agency said in a press release announcing the release of the documents. “Due to pending litigation, we are not able to offer additional comment on today’s release.”
