As School Shootings Become More Frequent, Bulletproof Backpacks Provide Peace of Mind to Students and Families
The horror of school shootings has torn apart families and communities. High profile attacks in Newtown and Parkland have struck fear into the hearts of parents and children in communities across the country. As Congress and state legislatures remain gridlocked over reform legislation, giving children a tool to protect themselves in the event of an unthinkable attack seems like common sense.
The Washington Post has reported that since the Columbine shooting, nearly 187,000 students at 193 primary and secondary schools have been exposed to a shooting on campus during school hours. These horrific shootings have sparked outrage and fear that inspired the need to build a backpack that offers a child lifesaving protection.
This month, ArmorMe launched its first bulletproof school backpack designed by Israeli security specialists. Developed with every family in mind, the backpack provides peace and security in a light and stylish design that can give a child a fighting chance when every second counts.
“We never know when violent attacks may occur,” said security specialist and Israeli Defense Forces Colonel Dr. Gabi Siboni, Ret. “We designed this bag for every student and have given them one or two panels of Kevlar to provide safety.”
The ArmorMe backpack was developed by Israeli security experts to meet the highest safety standards and with style and comfort in mind, demonstrated in this testing video at a gun range. The Kevlar used exceeds the global standard for safety for handgun attacks.
“We built this backpack to address the daily reality of student life. We wanted a pack that had style, was light, could carry a laptop, would last multiple academic years, and could breathe to ensure kids were comfortable. At the same time, we built this backpack to withstand a handgun attack,” added Israeli security expert Dr. Siboni.
The bag is available on Amazon and at ArmorMe.com and will be available soon at other major retailers.
