Biden Picks Jonathan Kanter for Assistant AG for Antitrust
Jonathan Kantor

WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden on Tuesday nominated Jonathan Kanter to serve as assistant attorney general for the Antitrust Division at the Department of Justice.

Kanter is a distinguished antitrust lawyer with over 20 years of experience, the White House said in a written statement.

He is the founding  partner at Kanter Law Group, a boutique antitrust firm, where he has represented clients raising antitrust concerns about Google.

“Google’s monopoly in general search services also has given the company extraordinary power as the gateway to the internet, which it uses to promote its own web content,” Kanter told The Wall Street Journal last year.

He previously was co-chair of the antitrust practice at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison LLP.

Kantor also served as an attorney for the Federal Trade Commission’s bureau of competition.

He earned his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis and his bachelor’s degree from State University of New York at Albany.
