Southern Company Is Building a Cleaner, Brighter Future

As the largest source of clean energy in the United States, carbon-free nuclear is helping Southern Company create a more diverse energy portfolio.

The construction of Plant Vogtle Units 3 and 4 wouldn’t have been possible without the extensive public-private partnerships between Southern Company, Georgia Power, the U.S. Department of Energy, and many others.

Carbon-free nuclear energy is an essential part of the U.S. economy, representing 19% of all electricity produced in 2021 and more than half of our country’s clean energy.

Upon completion, Plant Vogtle will be the largest generator of clean energy in the U.S. — a crucial asset in our clean energy arsenal.
