McAdams Declared Winner of House Race in Utah Over Rep. Mia Love
November 21, 2018
WASHINGTON — Democrat Ben McAdams defeated Republican Rep. Mia Love in Utah’s 4th Congressional District, according to the Associated Press.
The match-up between the two-term congresswoman, the only black female Republican in the House, and Salt Lake County Mayor McAdams had been tied in the polls.
The issue of health care played a major role in the McAdams campaign. Although Utah is ranked as the most Republican in the nation, the district west of Salt Lake City has seen close races. Love defeated Democrat Jim Matheson by just 768 votes in 2016.
