ME-02: Jared Golden (D)
About Jared:
Rep. Jared Golden is serving his second term in the Maine Legislature and is current assistant majority leader of the House, also known as the whip. Born in Lewiston, he grew up in central Maine, and served for four years in the Marine Corps, with deployments to both Afghanistan and Iraq.
After leaving active-duty he earned a degree in politics from Bates College, and served in the Marine Corps Reserves. He also volunteered at a school in Afghanistan.
Golden has worked in politics as a professional staff member for U.S. Senator Susan Collins on the U.S. Senate Homeland Security Committee, and as a legislative aide in the Maine State House.
Rep. Golden served on the Transportation Committee and on the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee.
Golden lives in Lewiston with his wife, Isobel, and currently works at his family’s business.
