WASHINGTON — NewDEAL is launching a new venture.

Well, sort of.

What the center-left network of state and local elected officials is really doing is launching The Roadmap, a new Substack publication it hopes will elevate the voices of rising and innovative state and local Democratic leaders who are driving winning policy solutions across the country.

Curated by NewDEAL and featuring regular contributions from its network of rising state and local leaders — including mayors, legislators, and statewide officials — The Roadmap is slated to showcase how bold, pragmatic policies, as well as these trailblazers — are meeting the moment locally while not always getting the attention they deserve in the press.

“At a time when national politics feels stuck, The Roadmap is about looking to where progress is actually happening — in cities and states led by innovative, results-driven Democrats. This platform will showcase the leaders and ideas shaping the future of the party from the ground up.” said Debbie Cox Bultan, CEO of NewDEAL, in a written statement.

The organization says key pieces in The Roadmap will focus on:

  • What it will take for Democrats to win (back) their districts and states;
  • Big ideas to make government work better and deliver results, featuring ideas on housing, clean energy, AI, and more;
  • The real-world impacts of the Trump administration and how local leaders are responding;
  • Commentary on defending and strengthening democracy

The publication will also feature key takeaways from NewDEAL’s podcast, An Honorable Profession, featuring leading Democratic thinkers and practitioners.
