WASHINGTON — A permit application filed by the National Park Service is providing the first details of the upcoming America 250 military parade scheduled for June 14.

The date not only commemorates the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army, but also happens to fall on President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday.

Though a number of specifics were unknown when the application was filed on March 31, the parade is expected to start at 6 p.m. at the Pentagon’s north parking lot, and proceed north on  Route 110, where it will cross the Memorial Bridge, go around the west side of the Lincoln Memorial then head east along Constitution Avenue to 15th Street, where it will then disperse.

The parade will include 6,600 soldiers, 150 military vehicles, and as many as 50 helicopters, all depicting some element of the “history of the Army,” and will feature a jet flyover and paratroopers the Golden Knights who will land on the Ellipse.

The Ellipse will also be the location of a presidential review stand, bleachers and a concert stage.

According to the National Parks Service application, a concert will begin at about 8 p.m. consisting of  five to seven musical acts, “likely from the country music world.”

“Exact talent is to be confirmed,” the application said. A fireworks display will begin just before the conclusion of the concert at about 9:45 p.m., and the entire event is expected to wrap up about 15 minutes later.

The organizers of the event  also state that they have no reason to believe “any individual, group, or organization might seek to disrupt” the event.

The set-up for the parade would happen between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. from June 6 through June 13, according to the permit.

The breakdown of the temporary infrastructure for the event is expected to begin at  7 a.m. on June 15 and continue through 3 p.m. on June 16.

The roads to be affected include Washington Blvd., Arlington Memorial Bridge, Lincoln Memorial Circle NW, 23rd St. NW, Constitution Ave. NW between 23rd and 15th, 15th St.

The application says that during the event about 250 marshals and/or volunteers will be on hand to “act as wayfinders and greeters for guests.”

The permit was filed by America250.org, Inc. A250 is the nonprofit arm of the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission, which was established in 2016 to assist with planning commemorations of the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Those celebrations are planned for next year.
