White House Holds Second COVID-19 Summit
President Joe Biden will hold the second COVID-19 Summit on Thursday to galvanize new actions to address the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthen global health security.
The event will bring together multiple countries, partners, nongovernmental organizations and private sector companies that have made financial or policy commitments during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as the Vaccine Alliance and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
The White House indicates the event will redouble the efforts made at the first summit by focusing on new resources and policy commitments to control COVID-19, vaccinating the world, getting vaccines, tests and treatments for those at highest risk, and investing in pandemic preparedness.
The first global virtual COVID-19 summit was held on September 22, 2021, and the second summit will feature three sessions to accelerate the international response to current and future threats.
