New Dem Chair-Elect Schneider Announces Leadership Team

WASHINGTON — The chair-elect of the largest Democratic caucus in the House on Friday appointed four members to round out its leadership team for the 119th Congress.
Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., will serve as the group’s vice chair at large, Rep. Marilyn Strickland, D-Wash., as whip, and Reps. Jennifer McClellan, D-Va., and Andrea Salinas, D-Ore., will serve as leadership members at large, Chair-elect Brad Schneider, D-Ill., said.
The newly appointed quartet of lawmakers join Reps. Nikki Budzinski, D-Ill., vice chair for policy, Salud Carbajal, D-Calif., vice chair for outreach, Josh Harder, vice chair for member services, Marc Veasey, D-Texas, and Rep.-elect Kristen McDonald Rivet, D-Mich., freshman leadership representative, as leaders of the coalition.
In the immediate aftermath of the 2024 election, 25 members-elect decided to join the coalition’s ranks, swelling its numbers to 110 members, meaning it now represents over half the House Democratic Caucus.
Schneider said the four new leadership appointees will bring a “breadth of perspectives, experiences, and expertise to our work, guiding the New Dems to new heights.”
“In the 119th Congress, New Dems will be bigger and more influential than ever,” Schneider said.
He went on to say that he’s looking forward “to benefiting from their thoughtful, commonsense guidance of our coalition through a narrowly divided House.
“I have no doubt New Dems will be the vanguard standing up against extremism, while always looking to reach across the aisle to find bipartisan solutions to improve the lives of all Americans,” Schneider said.
