OKLAHOMA CITY — Enel North America, the subsidiary to Italian multinational Enel S.p.A., has opened a new office and training space in midtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, capping a decade of rapid growth in the state.

According to the company, which recently started construction of its 13th wind farm in the state, the new offices represent a doubling down of its commitment to invest in rural communities across the states.

“With another Oklahoma wind farm on the way, we’re increasing our focus on developing a strong clean-energy workforce,” said Paolo Romanacci, head of Enel Green Power in the U.S. and Canada, recently.

“Our process is straightforward: invest in STEM education to inspire students to join our industry, execute on our ambitious growth strategy to create new skilled jobs, and train new hires in-house to equip them for our open positions in Oklahoma and beyond,” Romanacci added.

The new office space will include classrooms and state-of-the art simulation facilities for working inside wind turbines.

Courses will include topics like safety, professional development, working at heights, ladder rescues, turbine repair and troubleshooting.

Trainees will learn in multiple settings including classroom discussion, hands-on simulation and virtual reality. Oklahoma’s wind workers will simulate the experience of climbing and maintaining a wind turbine with training held year-round.

As Enel continues hiring in Oklahoma, it intends to expand its office capacity to support up to 25 Oklahoma City-based employees.

Currently, Enel has over 100 positions open across a variety of remote and in-person Oklahoma roles. In addition to hosting its employees, its location will allow the company to engage with its state and local stakeholders from across Oklahoma and host meetings and events.

The new Midtown office will  also allow Enel to welcome school groups and other community organizations to learn about renewable energy and STEM concepts first-hand from experts and education partners.
