CHICAGO — The Republican National Committee has chosen Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as the host city for their 2024 national convention.

The selection was announced, after a unanimous vote, during the committee’s annual meeting in Chicago on Friday.

In the end, the choice was simple — Milwaukee was the only city to approve a draft agreement with the committee spelling out what it would provide as host.

As previously reported by The Well News, Nashville, Tennessee, the second runner up, dropped out of contention when its Metro Council put off a vote on a similar agreement last month.

In announcing the party’s decision, RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said in a statement that the party is “eager to see the world-class city of Milwaukee shine in the spotlight come 2024.

“I look forward to working with the members of the Republican National Committee, Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson, the Milwaukee Host Committee and Visit Milwaukee to deliver an incredible convention for our party and nominate the next president of the United States,” she said.

Tyler Bowyer, a Republican national committeeman from Arizona, was ebullient in his response via Twitter. “Excited to flip Wisconsin back Red in ‘24!” he said.

The Democratic Party is continuing to evaluate convention sites and is expected to announce its choice by the end of the year or early next year.

The contenders are Atlanta, Georgia, Houston, Texas, Chicago, Illinois, and New York.
