WASHINGTON — Politicians, Supreme Court protestors, and passersby were all spotted squeezing some Florida sunshine into their day, enjoying free orange juice offered by Florida House’s annual Orange Juice Day giveaway on Capitol Hill Wednesday morning.

Each year on May 4 — National Orange Juice Day — Florida House, a privately-owned education and information center located near the Capitol, invites all friends and neighbors to stop by to have one of the state’s best-known products, a delicious glass of OJ.

This year, Miss Florida 2021 Leah Roddenberry joined Natalie’s Orange Juice, the Florida Department of Agriculture and Department of Citrus in offering attendees servings of orange juice and related swag, as well as to take pictures and enjoy Florida hospitality.

While the day recognizes America’s most popular breakfast drink — apple juice is a distant second — the event also served as an opportunity to bring people together for a fun common cause in a D.C. neighborhood juiced with tension over recent news events.
