Twenty-Five states and the District of Columbia have fully vaccinated at least half of their population, the Centers for Disease Control said Tuesday.

From a political perspective, 21 of those 25 states and the District of Columbia are blue states, won by President Joe Biden in 2020. Four are red states won by former President Donald Trump.

Wonder who’s tops in vaccinations? Well, that would be the great state of Maine, where 63% of the adult population has been fully vaccinated. Who’s bringing up the rear? Mississippi, where only 34% of the population is fully vaccinated.

All told, 61% of the adult population in the United States is vaccinated. Nine states have already met the president’s goal of having at least 70% of their adults having had at least one shot. But the president still wants to reach 70% nationwide by July 4th.

The nine states that have already made the mark are Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, New Mexico and Hawaii.
