House Democrats Campaign Arm Raised $11.5 Million in February
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised over $11.5 million in February, far surpassing the organization’s previous record for the most raised in February of a midterm election cycle.
In a brief statement released Friday morning, the DCCC said the average online donation was just $16.
In a filling with the Federal Election Commission over the weekend, the DCCC reported that it entered March with nearly $26 million n cash on hand, and that it had also paid off $2 million of its roughly $13 million in debt.
“Americans are sending a clear message that they’re ready to hold congressional Republicans accountable for voting against much-needed economic recovery and vaccine funding so we can crush this pandemic and get our lives back to normal,” said Rep. Sean Maloney, D-N.Y., who chairs the group.
“Thanks to our incredible grassroots supporters and the hard work and leadership of Speaker Pelosi, the DCCC is able to hit the ground running early this cycle with bold investments across our battleground to remind voters of the clear contrast between Democrats who delivered the relief our communities need, and Republicans who stood in the way,” he said.
Despite the 2022 midterms being almost 18 months away, money is pouring into both parties’ campaign coffers.
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is expected to report that it raised closed to $7.2 million in February, while the National Republican Senatorial Committee will report it raised $6.4 million during the same period.
The National Republican Congressional Committee has not disclosed its February fundraising numbers, but must file its monthly financial report with the FEC by March 20.
