Rosen To Lead Women’s Senate Network For 2022 Cycle
Sen. Jacky Rosen

WASHINGTON – Nevada Sen. Jacky Rosen has been selected to chair the Women’s Senate Network for the 2022 cycle, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee announced Wednesday.

Rosen, a computer programmer until she was elected to represent Nevada’s 3rd congressional district in 2017, was elected to the Senate the following year, defeating Republican incumbent Dean Heller.

She was the only House freshman to win a seat in the U.S. Senate during the 2018 midterm elections and the only challenger to defeat a Republican incumbent U.S. Senator in the 2018 cycle.

In her new role, she will lead the committee’s program to organize support and raise funds to elect more women to the chamber.

“We need more Democratic women running for office, and we need more Democratic women serving in the Senate,” Rosen said on Wednesday. “Electing more women means having more leaders in our democracy working tirelessly to build an economy and health care system that empowers women. I know from my own race how important the Women’s Senate Network is, and I’m ready to get to work with the DSCC to help ensure we return our fantastic incumbents like Catherine Cortez Masto and Maggie Hassan to the Senate and grow our majority with new women leaders.”

DSCC Chair Sen. Gary Peters, D-Mich., lauded the Women’s Senate Network for the “critical” work it has done to elect and re-elect “so many of our phenomenal colleagues.”

“I’m proud to work alongside Jacky as we focus on 2022,” Peters said. “Because of dedicated work over many cycles, we’ve significantly grown the number of Democratic women in the Senate and our nation is better because of it. We have an important task ahead of us to protect and expand our majority, and I know Jacky and the Women’s Senate Network will be key partners in this fight.”

The Women’s Senate Network program raises millions of dollars each cycle, including grassroots supporters making small-dollar donations. These resources helped re-elect Sens. Jeanne Shaheen and Tina Smith and support women challengers across the map in 2020.

They provided support to now-Sens. Rosen and Kyrsten Sinema and nine other Democratic women senators who won re-election in 2018. The Women’s Senate Network has been a key DSCC program since it was established by Senator Debbie Stabenow in 2001. Two recent chairs of the Women’s Senate Network, Catherine Cortez Masto (2018) and Maggie Hassan (2020), are running for re-election in 2022.
