FBI, ATF Increase Reward Leading to Arrest of Capitol Hill Pipe Bomb Suspect
WASHINGTON – The FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms have increased the reward for information that could help identify a suspect who placed pipe bombs outside the headquarters of the Democratic and Republican National Committee offices Jan. 6.
The reward has been increased to $75,000, with the FBI offering $50,000 and the ATF, an additional $25,000.
The pipe bombs were placed in the vicinity of the RNC and DNC headquarters at approximately the same time that angry supporters of former President Donald Trump laid siege to the U.S. Capitol, a violent outbreak that left five people dead.
A law enforcement bomb team was able to remove the devices and dispose of them without incident.
Security cameras in the Capitol Hill neighborhood captured multiple images of a potential suspect, whose identity is obscured by a grey hoodie, gloves and a face mask.
