TX-03: Helane Seikaly (D)
PROFILE
About Seikaly:
Helane “Lulu” Seikaly is a first-generation American, the daughter of a pediatric specialist and a Registered Nurse who fled civil war in their native Lebanon.
Raised in North Texas, Seikaly’s interest in service to her community began at a young age and grew at Ursuline Academy of Dallas, where she won the “Serviam” award, exemplifying Ursuline’s motto meaning “I will serve.”
Seikaly attended Southern Methodist University where she was active in student government and later earned her law degree from South Texas College of Law, graduating with honors.
As an attorney and advocate, Seikaly specializes in employment law. She now lives in Plano, Texas, the community where her husband, Daniel, grew up, and where her in-laws live.
Among her priorities, she says, is fixing “our broken health care system,” fighting for science-based decision making, and getting the economy moving in a way that works for everyone not just for corporations.
