About Lamb:
Conor Lamb is a Marine and former federal prosecutor who represents Pennsylvania’s 17th district. Lamb won a special election in March 2018 to represent the 18th district, and after Pennsylvania’s redistricting, Lamb went on to defeat incumbent Republican Congressman Keith Rothfus in November to represent the new 17th district, which includes Beaver County, much of Allegheny County outside the city of Pittsburgh, and part of Cranberry Township in Butler County.
In both campaigns, Lamb ran on a commitment to protect Social Security and Medicare, make health care more affordable, invest in infrastructure and create good jobs, and combat the heroin epidemic, among other priorities. A vocal supporter of organized labor, Lamb has also highlighted the need to strengthen unions, make it easier for workers to organize, raise the minimum wage and fight for better pay, benefits and working conditions for all working people.
Lamb supports bold campaign finance reform, and does not take contributions from corporate PACs. Despite being significantly outspent by super PACs and outside groups, Lamb’s grassroots campaign raised nearly $9 million, and 45% came from small contributions — the fourth highest percentage of small dollar donations among all members of Congress.
In Congress, Lamb serves on the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, and in 2019 he was elected to serve as Vice Chair of the Committee. Lamb also serves on the Science, Space and Technology Committee, and as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Energy.
As an assistant U.S. Attorney from 2014-2017, Lamb led prosecutions against drug dealers and violent criminals and helped establish the Justice Department’s Pittsburgh office as a national leader in the fight against the heroin epidemic, working to build partnerships between law enforcement and community members in places that have been hit hardest by the crisis.
Prior to his appointment as a federal prosecutor, Lamb was a Captain in the U.S. Marine Corps. He completed active duty service in 2013.
Lamb, 35, grew up in Mt. Lebanon and lives there now with his wife, Hayley Haldeman. He went to Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School (2002), and went to college and law school at the University of Pennsylvania (2006, 2009).
