About Daines:
Steve Daines is a member of the U.S. Senate from Montana. He assumed office on January 6, 2015. Daines is running for re-election to the Senate to continue representing Montana. He is running against Democrat Steve Bullock.
Daines is a fifth generation Montanan, residing in Bozeman. After attending public schools in Bozeman, Daines graduated with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Montana State University in 1984. He spent 13 years in a management role for Procter & Gamble, and then returned to Bozeman in 1997 to work in a family construction business.
Daines was elected to the U.S House of Representatives in 2012. During his time in the House, Daines championed legislation to expand responsible development of Montana’s energy resources, move forward forest management reform, increase transparency and accountability in government, and require members of Congress to balance the budget.
As a member of the U.S. Senate, Daines serves on the Senate Committees on Finance, Appropriations, Energy and Natural Resources, Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, and Indian Affairs. For the Senate Committee on Finance, Daines is only the third Montana senator to be on the committee.
Daines prioritizes the interests of Montana while working to improve government efficiency.
