SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s “Win the Era PAC and Action Fund” has endorsed 28 candidates for various offices in the November elections.

“I’m excited to announce our latest slate of endorsements, which include forward-thinking leaders across our country who are offering bold ideas that will change the course of our politics,” Buttigieg said in a statement.

“This election, we need to replace the current president and elect leaders at every level of our government who will deliver solutions to the biggest challenges we face,” he continued. “I believe the voices of these 28 candidates are essential to changing our politics, and I’m committed to doing everything I can to make sure they are successful on November 3.”

The endorsed candidates are: Reps. Colin Allred, D-Texas; Andy Kim, D-N.J.; Kathleen Rice, D-N.Y.; Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich.; state Rep. Jasmine Clark, D-Ga.; state Sen. Nikema Williams, D-Ga.; Marquita Bradshaw, D-Tenn.; Theresa Greenfield, D-Iowa; MJ Hegar, D-Texas; Jon Ossoff, D-Ga.; Raphael Warnock, D-Ga.; Qasim Rashid, D-Va.; Hillary Scholten, D-Mich.; Pat Timmons-Goodson, D-N.C; Ritchie Torres, D-N.Y.; Candace Valenzuela, D-Texas; Cameron Webb, D-Va.; Nina Ahmad, D-Pa.; Josh Stein, D-N.C.; Sarah McBride, D-Del.; Akilah Bacy, D-Texas; Torrey Harris, D-Tenn.; Chokwe Pitchford, D-Mich.; Tarra Simmons, D-Wash.; and Mauree Turner, D-Okla.

Buttigieg announced his own candidacy for president in April 2019 before becoming the first openly gay person to win a presidential primary or caucus in Feb. 2020 after the results of the Iowa caucuses were announced. Despite Buttigieg’s promising performance among voters, he dropped out in March and endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden prior to Super Tuesday.

These endorsements aim to strengthen the Democratic Party’s prospects this election cycle while being representative of the nation’s demographics, according to a release from Win the Era. Many of the candidates are either “running historic and trailblazing campaigns” or seeking victory in traditionally Republican-backed states or districts.

Detailed information on each candidate and their campaign can be found on Win the Era’s website. The PAC chooses its candidates for endorsement based on leadership qualities, policy, substance, campaign difficulty, personal qualities and belonging within the Democratic Party.
