On the Trail: Countdown to the Midterms
AZ (Senate): Candidates for Arizona’s U.S. Senate seat, U.S. Representatives Kyrsten Sinema (D) and Martha McSally (R), debated at an event hosted by Arizona PBS and the Arizona Republic in Phoenix. Watch the debate here.
AZ-01: Representative Tom O’Halleran received the endorsement of the Arizona Police Association, which represents over 40 police organizations throughout the state of Arizona from local departments, to corrections officers’ associations to the officers assigned to protect our nation’s border.
CA-25: Representatives Hakeem Jeffries (NY-8) and Pramila Jayapal (WA-7) traveled to California to campaign for Katie Hill, who is running against incumbent Representative Steve Knight. Human Rights Campaign President Chad Griffin also joined Hill on the trail. Hill raised over $3.8 million in the third quarter.
CA-52: Representative Scott Peters received a re-election endorsement from the United States Chamber of Commerce for his pro-business, pragmatic approach to policy. Peters was one of only six House Democrats to receive a 2016 endorsement from the U.S. Chamber. Peters is also endorsed by the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.
FL-07: Representative Stephanie Murphy hosted a roundtable discussion on climate and environmental issues and the impact climate change is having and will continue to have on the state of Florida. Murphy was joined by the League of Conservation Voters and the Sierra Club, both of which have endorsed Murphy.
IL-10: Brad Schneider announced more than a dozen local mayors and village presidents have endorsed his campaign for re-election. Schneider has also received endorsements by the editorial boards of the Daily Herald and the Chicago Sun-Times.
IL-12: Representative John Lewis, an icon of the Civil Rights Movement, traveled to Illinois to join Brendan Kelly on the campaign trail this week. Kelly is running against incumbent Republican Representative Mike Bost.
IN (Senate): Joe Donnelly has set a personal fundraising record, raising over $3 million in his best quarter to date. Donnelly for Indiana ended the third quarter with more than $4.5 million in the bank.
NC-09: The Charlotte Observer officially endorsed Democratic candidate Dan McCready in his race against Mark Harris. A Democrat hasn’t represented North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District in 56 years.
NV-03: Driven by a grassroots coalition of over 12,000 donors, local education advocate and Democratic congressional candidate Susie Lee reported raising over $1.7 million in the 3rd quarter.

VA-10: The Washington Post Editorial Board endorsed Jennifer Wexton in the race for U.S. Representative for Virginia’s Tenth District. The Post wrote that the “clear and convincing competence of [Comstock’s] Democratic rival, state Sen. Jennifer Wexton, inform our decision this year to support Ms. Wexton.”
