Ohio Senate: Bernie Moreno (R)
Bernie Moreno was born in Bogota, Colombia, and became an American citizen at age 18.
He attended the University of Michigan, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and then went to work for General Motors, ultimately becoming general manager of a car dealership for Saturn.
Moreno purchased his first car dealership in 2005 by investing every cent he had, and then some, and never looked back. In time, he turned that one dealership into the Collection Auto Group, one of the largest dealership groups in America.
In 2016, Moreno recognized the value and transformational potential of blockchain technology, before it received mainstream attention, and moved much of his volunteer time and investment dollars into the space.
“After a long, successful career, Bernie sold most of his business to begin focusing on his calling: protecting the American dream for another generation,” his website says.
“He saw the government calling some people essential and other hardworking Ohioans ‘unessential.’ He saw schools shut down and China go unpunished for unleashing a virus on the world. He saw politicians afraid to take on the CCP for stealing our jobs and technology; buying our farmland; and influencing young minds via TikTok and Confucius Institutes,” it continues.
With that, Moreno decided to challenge incumbent Democratic Sen.Sherrod Brown. He’s vowing that if elected he will fight to shrink the government, protect our freedoms, and stop the Chinese communist party “from taking U.S. data and land.”
Moreno lives in Westlake, Ohio, with his wife, Bridget. The couple has four adult children.
