Montana Senate: Tim Sheehy (R)

Tim Sheehy is a Minnesota native and former Navy SEAL who moved to Montana in 2014 and founded the aerial firefighting company Bridger Aerospace.
He has said he never considered entering politics until the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021 and the terrorist attack that killed 13 departing U.S. service members while wounding 45 others.
A graduate of the Naval Academy class of 2008, he was the first Midshipman to participate in the U.S. Army Special Operations exchange program and the first to graduate from the elite U.S. Army Ranger School.
Immediately after graduation, Sheehy was commissioned into the U.S. Navy and completed SEAL training.
Sheehy met his wife, Carmen, who served as a U.S. Marine Corps Officer, at the Naval Academy.
Both left the service after he was wounded in combat, and they decided Montana would be a good place to raise their family.
By that time, Tim Sheehy had earned multiple combat decorations, including the Bronze Star with Valor for Heroism in Combat and the Purple Heart Medal.
In late 2014, Sheehy founded Bridger Aerospace in his barn with all his savings and an all-veteran team.
He led the growth of Bridger Aerospace and its sister company, Ascent Vision Technologies, and eventually took Bridger Aerospace public on the NASDAQ in 2023.
Today, Bridger Aerospace employs over 200 people and is one of only a few publicly traded companies in Montana.
In addition to founding Bridger, Sheehy is an active firefighting pilot and has completed hundreds of firefighting missions piloting a CL415EAF Water Bomber.
Sheehy and his wife have also tried to share their success with their neighbors, donating over $6 million to charities across the state.
Sheehy describes himself as “a strong conservative who believes America’s best days are ahead.”
He has vowed, “to fight for every hardworking Montanan and their family … to build a future where we restore American greatness with a strong economy, low-inflation, and high-paying jobs for all Montanans.”
Sheehy has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump.
He and Carmen Sheehy live with their four children on a 20,000-acre cattle ranch.
