Jen Kiggans is a state senator, geriatric nurse practitioner, U.S. Navy veteran, mother, and Navy wife.
Before beginning her service in the U.S. Navy in 1995, she earned a degree in International Relations from Boston University and taught English in public high schools in Matsuyama, Japan. She then served for 10 years in the U.S. Navy, completing two deployments to the Persian Gulf as an H-46 and H-3 helicopter pilot.
She is a graduate of Old Dominion University’s Nursing School and Vanderbilt University’s Nurse Practitioner program.
In 2019, she was elected to the Virginia State Senate representing District 7, which includes parts of both Virginia Beach and Norfolk.
She lives in Virginia Beach, Virginia with her four kids and husband, Steve, who is a retired U.S. Navy F-18 pilot.
