NM-02: Gabe Vasquez (D)

Campaign Website

Gabe Vasquez is a first-generation American and learned the values of hard work and perseverance from his immigrant parents.

Vasquez started his career building a successful company and later dedicated himself to politics. Vasquez joined Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., in his efforts to assist communities in New Mexico. In addition, he helped the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument and won a position on the Las Cruces City Council with a 70% vote.

In addition, as executive director of the Las Cruces Hispano Chamber of Commerce, he devoted time to public lands conservation. He encouraged federal policies advocating for child welfare.

Vasquez opposes Trump’s tax cuts for wealthy Americans and will work to get large corporations to pay fair amounts.

Vasquez is dedicated to providing affordable health care to families in New Mexico. He will promote public options, lower Medicaid age to 55, decrease the price of prescription drugs and add vision and dental benefits.

Vasquez has a unique perspective regarding immigration having lived in Mexico and the United States. He will work to reform immigration by protecting DREAMERS, enforcing a strong border, and creating a fair path towards citizenship.

Vasquez will focus on upholding tribal sovereignty and supporting New Mexico’s Native American communities such as the Laguna, Zuni, Acoma and Isleta Pueblos. Vasquez will increase resources such as education, healthcare and infrastructure for Native American tribes.
