NJ-08: Rob Menendez (D)
Rob Menendez was born and raised in Hudson County. Strengthening families is at the core of his purpose for running because he understands the pressures and challenges families face in these difficult times. He is running to create solutions to those challenges to make today better and tomorrow a place where we can all thrive and reach our full potential.
The grandson of Cuban immigrants and Union members, the son of a public school educator and a political leader, he grew up valuing public service that drives positive change in our communities. He was raised to believe in the importance of giving back and taking care of our neighbors.
Today, he is raising his family in the shadow of the Statue of Liberty and continues to take to heart all she represents — the welcoming place where the American journey begins and the promise of an America that works for everyone.
He is counsel at the national law firm Lowenstein Sandler where he uses his legal training to help clients grow their businesses, advising on a wide breadth of legal and regulatory issues. He has extensive pro bono experience, including a case to advance voting rights, a cause he will champion in Congress.
In addition to his legal practice, he serves as a commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and as a trustee of The Hudson School in Hoboken, New Jersey.
He earned an undergraduate degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a J.D. from Rutgers Law School. He and his wife, young daughter, and son live in the Lafayette neighborhood of Jersey City.
