NJ-02: Tim Alexander (D)

Tim Alexander is a New Jersey native born in Newark, and made Southern New Jersey his home in 1980. It is in South Jersey that Tim married Anna, his wife of 34 years, and together they raised their three children.
Alexander had a long career in law enforcement for the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office in Mays Landing, New Jersey, as a detective captain in charge of the Criminal Investigation Section.
After his career in law enforcement, Alexander became an attorney and became a major trials prosecutor for the Philadelphia District Attorney. Alexander joined the Civil Rights Unit for the Philadelphia Solicitor’s Office. Later, Alexander became a private attorney in civil litigation with Helmer, Conley & Kasselman, P.A. focusing his work on civil rights and employment discrimination.
Alexander says he will promote policies that combat the climate crisis. Alexander will support President Biden’s environmental initiatives and create green energy infrastructure in New Jersey.
He will fight for women’s rights in Congress by supporting the right to choose and closing the pay gap by encouraging equal pay legislation like the Paycheck Fairness Act. In addition, he will promote a federal paid family leave program.
He supports the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. He will advocate for the LGBTQ+ community by supporting the Equality Act and fighting against homophobia in Congress. Finally, Alexander will not accept corporate PAC money.
Alexander will work to limit unemployment by rebuilding infrastructure in New Jersey. He plans to connect communities and create jobs by building a public transportation system and improving Atlantic City airport. He will support the American Rescue Plan’s child tax and earned income credit expansion helping thousands of families meet their needs.
