NC-01: Don Davis (D)

Born and raised in Snow Hill, North Carolina, Don Davis has spent his life heeding the call to serve. He is a veteran, educator, minister, and dedicated public servant.
Davis became the youngest mayor of Snow Hill. He spent years listening to people in his community, rebuilding Snow Hills infrastructure, and strengthening the crumbling economy. During his time in office he fought for teachers to receive higher pay, the military to get tax-exempt pensions, and people in his community to be able to have access to the internet. Davis focused on the needs of rural communities ensuring access to quality health care by investing $215 million in ECU Brody School of Medicine.
Davis says he will address climate change and support initiatives fighting air and water pollution, especially in underprivileged communities as well as supporting farmers who are drastically affected by climate change.
Davis will fight for affordable and accessible health care and support a woman’s right to choose and will focus on limiting the maternal mortality rate that disproportionately affects African American women.
Davis wants to focus on providing mental health services, better health care, housing programs, and access to education and job training to ensure veterans get the support they deserve.
Davis is a father and professor who believes every child deserves a quality education. He will fight to create affordable higher education, access to early childhood education, and fund HBCUs. Davis believes that we must invest in dedicated teachers and fight educational inequality. He will support college students and has fundraised $140 million for students to attend Elizabeth City State University.
Today Davis is an active member of his community in Greene County and lives with his wife Yuvonka and their three sons, Justin, Ryan, and Kyler.
