MS-04: Mike Ezell (R)
Sheriff Mike Ezell was born and raised in Pascagoula. His father served on the police force and his mother worked as the secretary at their church.
He bought his own lawnmower at the age of 11 and began his first regular-paying job at the age of 14.
After graduating from Pascagoula High School, he followed in his father’s footsteps with the Pascagoula Police Department.
In Pascagoula, he worked his way up the ranks to captain of Detectives before becoming chief of Police in Ocean Springs.
While serving full-time as a police officer, he attended night school and earned a criminal justice degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. He is also a graduate of the Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Academy and the FBI National Academy.
He ran for and was elected Sheriff in a 2014 Special Election.
He and his wife, Suzette, live in Pascagoula and have one daughter, Amy Ezell Dennis (Coby) and one granddaughter, Sydney.
