Hillary Scholten is a former social worker, former lawyer with the Department of Justice and mother.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree in social work she helped primarily LGBTQ people at Aids Action Committee.
She then graduated from law school and went to work on immigration issues for the Department of Justice under the Obama Administration. She left during the Trump administration to work for the Michigan Immigrant Rights Center.
Scholten also volunteers as a lawyer for the Times Up Legal Defense Fund, which helps women facing sexual harassment in the workplace.
She lives in Grand Rapids with her husband, Jesse, and two sons.
