IL-06: Keith Pekau (R)

Keith Pekau is an Air Force veteran, business owner and current mayor of Orland Park, Illinois.
He is a decorated combat veteran, serving as an Instructor Weapons System Officer in the F-15E Strike Eagle. He has over 1,500 hours of flight time, including 45 combat sorties and 150 combat hours over Southern Iraq.
After leaving the service, Pekau was a management consultant for two international consulting firms. He went back to the Chicago suburbs where he grew up and started GroundsKeeper Landscape Care, and then co-founded a business consulting company in 2009.
Pekau first ran for office, ousting a 28-year incumbent, in 2017 when he became mayor of his suburban Illinois hometown. He ran on promising to lower property taxes, reduce crime and revitalize the village’s downtown.
Since becoming mayor, Pekau has reduced the village’s operating expenses and debt. He refused to take a pension, and is working to end pensions for elected officials. Crime has also dropped to its lowest point in nearly three decades.
Pekau lives in Orland Park with his wife Betty. They have three children and one granddaughter.
