MN Senate: Jason Lewis (R)
BEMIDJI, MN - SEPTEMBER 18: Republican Senate candidate Jason Lewis speaks during a rally for President Donald Trump at the Bemidji Regional Airport on September 18, 2020 in Bemidji, Minnesota. Trump and challenger, Democratic presidential nominee and former Vice President Joe Biden, are both campaigning in Minnesota today.

About Lewis:

Jason Lewis represented Minnesota’s 2nd congressional district in the 115th Congress, but he is perhaps best known to most state residents as the host of a popular conservative radio show.

Lewis voted for the Republican tax cuts of 2017 and regulatory reform.

Lewis said as a member of the House Budget Committee he advocated for spending cuts and a return to fiscal responsibility and supported resolutions that called for a balanced budget within 10 years.

Lewis sponsored the Juvenile Justice Reform Act of 2018, reauthorized the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act, and included key protections for youths who find themselves within the criminal justice system.

The Act passed Congress and was signed into law by President Donald Trump.

Prior to the start of his radio career, Lewis worked in the family industrial and automotive aftermarket business.

After earning a master’s degree in political science from the University of Colorado-Denver, Lewis made his first bid for public office, running for Congress in Colorado. It was after losing that race, that he launched his radio career. He moved the show to Minnesota 10 years later.

In Minnesota, Jason also co-hosted a statewide public affairs program on Public Television for five years and was a contributing columnist at the Star Tribune of Minneapolis.

He published a book, “Power Divided is Power Checked,” in 2010, in which he expounds on the importance of local government to the health of the greater republic.

Lewis is married, and he and his wife Leigh have two daughters.
