Reckless Reopenings
The DCCC released a new television ad in Texas’ 24th Congressional District, stating politician Beth Van Duyne’s alliance with President Trump amid a pandemic is hurting North Texas. The ad began reaching voters in the Dallas/Fort Worth media market on broadcast and cable on Oct. 8.
“President Trump and Beth Van Duyne only stand to make North Texans sicker with their reckless support for reopening without a plan and a dangerous health care agenda that would gut protections for people with pre-existing conditions like COVID-19,” DCCC spokesman Avery Jaffe said.
Wagner Accused of Voting with Special Interests
The DCCC released its latest TV ad in MO-02, “World.” The ad is airing now on broadcast in St. Louis and claims Congresswoman Ann Wagner has continuously voted with special interest allies who have given her campaign millions, while her net worth has grown by over four million dollars since she was first elected.
“Since she’s been in Congress, her net worth has increased by over four million dollars, and she’s voted time and again with special interests to finance her high-class lifestyle. But Missourians are over Ann Wagner and her swamp politics, and are cutting her off this November,” said DCCC Spokesperson Courtney Rice.
Republican Rodimer Defends Himself in New Ad
A new ad in which Nevada Congressional District 3 Republican candidate Dan Rodimer describes a 2018 incident when his then-girlfriend, now wife, twice called 911 on him as “a verbal argument, plain and simple” has begun running online and on broadcast and cable TV.
In the ad, framed by the camera with her husband and children eating behind her, Rodimer’s wife accuses attack ads from opponent Susie Lee of “exploiting our family” before touting endorsements from a number of Nevada police unions.
A campaign spokesperson did not respond to requests for comment on the amount of money spent on this most recent ad buy according to The Nevada Independent.
Inslee Ad Touts Strong, Steady Leadership
Inslee for Washington has released a new ad, “Decisive Leadership” stating that when COVID-19 hit Washington state first, Governor Inslee worked with public health experts to take decisive action and save countless lives. The ad states his strong, steady leadership and economic preparedness have Washington state poised to rebuild stronger than ever.
DCCC’s Dozen
The DCCC IE released 12 ads which continue to attack Republicans for fighting to eliminate protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions while taking campaign contributions from drug and insurance companies.
“House Republicans are putting the interests of their drug and insurance company donors over the economic well-being of the working families they swore they would represent. We’re not done reminding voters that Republicans and their special interest donors are on a crusade to take away their health coverage during a deadly pandemic,” said DCCC Spokesperson Robyn Patterson.
POLLS
A recent poll conducted by The Economist/YouGov found only 26% of respondents felt the country was headed in the right direction, 66% felt it is on the wrong track and 8% were not sure. The same poll found an even split when asked if respondents were feeling optimistic or pessimistic about the future of the country, with 40% for each, twenty percent said they were not sure.

A recent Pew Research Center Poll shows Joe Biden leading Donald Trump by 10 points, 52% to 42% among registered voters who were asked for whom they would vote if the election were held today. The same poll showed Biden leading in five of six areas when respondents were asked about their confidence level in each candidate being able to; make good decisions on the economy (Trump 52%, Biden 51%); effectively handle law enforcement and criminal justice (Biden 49%, Trump 45%); select good nominees for the Supreme Court, (Biden 55%, Trump 49%); make good decisions about foreign policy (Biden 54%, Trump 45%); handle the coronavirus (Biden 57%, Trump 40%) and bring the country closer together (Biden 50%, Trump 30%).
According to a YouGov tracker survey, in Britain, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Sweden, in only one of these countries – Italy – are more than a tenth of voters confident that the American electoral process will prove irreproachable according to The Guardian newspaper. In the other six, support for the view that the Nov. 3 elections will be “completely free and fair” ranges from 2% in Germany to 7% in Spain. In no country do more than 44% feel the vote will even be “completely or mostly” free and fair.
The survey, with a representative sample of 1,000-plus people in each country, found Europeans overwhelmingly eager for a Biden victory, despite not rating him very highly or knowing much about him.
About 80% of Danes say they want the Democratic challenger to win, followed by 71% in Germany, 64% in France and 61% in the UK, while support across the same four countries for a Trump victory ranges from 6% to 14%.
A recent ABC News/Washington Post Poll asked “As you may know, abortion law in the United States is based on the 1973 U.S. Supreme Court ruling known as Roe v. Wade. Do you think the Supreme Court should uphold Roe v. Wade or overturn it?” A majority of those surveyed, 62% said it should be upheld, 24% said overturn it and 14% were unsure.
