Klobuchar Prevails In Early Voting in New Hampshire
Voting is still underway in New Hampshire’s first-in-the-nation primary, but in two of three locations that voted at midnight, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., emerged as the clear winner.
In Hart’s Location in Carroll County, N.H., Klobuchar received six votes. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren came in second with four votes. Andrew Yang was third with three votes, and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt. was fourth with two votes. Former vice president Joe Biden, Rep. Tulsi Gabbard and Tom Steyer each received one vote.
On the Republican side, President Donald Trump came out on top with 15 votes. Former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld got four votes, and a local woman, Mary Maxwell, received one vote.
Klobuchar also prevailed in Millsfield, N.H., where she received two votes. Biden, Buttigieg and Sanders each got one vote. Trump received 16 votes from Millsfield. Former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld got one vote.
In Dixville Notch, which kicked off the primary on Tuesday, the results were truly surprising, with Michael Bloomberg receiving three write-in votes — a rarity in the community. Pete Buttigieg and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders each got one vote. New Hampshire Secretary of State Bill Gardner anticipates a total turnout of 420,000 for the primary. He expects 292,000 ballots cast in the Democratic primary and 128,000 ballots cast in the Republican primary.
