About Allred:

Colin Allread attended Dallas public schools, where his mom was a teacher for part of her 27-year career in public education.

With the help of his family, community, and coaches, Allred was able to attend some of the best schools in the country and pursue his dreams of playing in the NFL, and becoming a civil rights attorney.

As special assistant in the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of General Counsel, Allred worked with then-Secretary Julián Castro. He was a voting rights attorney for the Perkins Coie law firm and counsel to a range of clients including national and state political candidates and advocacy organizations. Allred’s experience also includes positions in both the Obama White House and the U.S. Attorney’s office.

Allred believes “that by working together we can continue to build on the progress we’ve made and continue to take on fights that matter to us: building an economy that works for everyone, ensuring affordable housing and health care, and guaranteeing a quality education for every child.”

From lowering prescription drug prices to securing the Garland VA Medical Center, Allred has worked across the aisle to bring results. He fought against the lawsuit that would repeal the Affordable Care Act. Seventy percent of the bills he’s co-sponsored are bipartisan.
