About Fletcher:

Lizzie Fletcher has lived in Texas’ Seventh Congressional District nearly all her life, and has made her home and built her career in the district.

After graduating from St. John’s School in 1993, Fletcher went to Kenyon College in Ohio, where she graduated with highest honors in history and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in 1997. After college, Fletcher worked for several years in business and non-profit organizations before earning a fellowship to attend William & Mary Law School in Virginia. Fletcher graduated from law school in 2006.

Fletcher began her legal career in 2006 at Vinson & Elkins, an international law firm founded in Houston more than 100 years ago. A few years later, she joined Ahmad, Zavitsanos, Anaipakos, Alavi & Mensing (AZA), a 50-person firm based in Houston that focuses on business litigation. Fletcher became the firm’s first woman partner in 2015.

As representative for Texas’ Seventh Congressional District, Fletcher has served on the House Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure.

Fletcher also served on the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, where she chaired its Subcommittee on Energy. Fletcher is a member of the New Democrat Coalition, a group of pro-business, pro-trade Democratic members of Congress, where she co-chaired its Trade Task Force.

Fletcher’s family has made the district their home for many years. Fletcher remains committed to the city and the people who live there.
