About Mrvan:
Frank Mrvan is a township trustee for North Township, Indiana and the Democratic Party candidate for Indiana’s 1st congressional district.
Mrvan was born in Hammond, Ind., on April 16, 1969, and after graduating from Oliver P. Morton High School, earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ball State University.
Before entering local politics, Mrvan worked as a licensed mortgage broker and pharmaceutical sales representative.
In November 2005, Mrvan was appointed as a township trustee for North Township, Ind., when his predecessor resigned.
After Rep. Pete Visclosky decided not to run for reelection in the 2020 elections, Mrvan announced his candidacy.
Mrvan received endorsements from Visclosky and the local chapter of the United Steelworkers.
He won the Democratic Party nomination with 34% of the vote in a field of 14 candidates and faced Republican Mark Leyva in the November general election.
Mrvan and his wife, Jane, have two children. His father, Frank Mrvan, is a longtime member of the Indiana Senate.
