About Franklin:
Scott Franklin was a Naval Aviator in the U.S. Navy. During his 26-year career – 14 years on active duty and 12 years in the reserves – Franklin flew jets from the decks of 13 aircraft carriers. He was deployed to the Mediterranean, the Persian Gulf and the North Atlantic. He participated in combat operations in the Gulf, Bosnia and Kosovo. After 9/11, Franklin was recalled to active duty with the U.S. Central Command.
He has owned and operated a small business in Lakeland for the past 20 years. He and his wife of nearly 30 years, Amy, have three adult children: Amanda, Will and Sarah.
Scott Franklin is involved in a number of organizations that support his hometown of Lakeland, including leadership roles with the Lakeland Economic Development Council, the Lakeland Rotary Club, the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce, the Lakeland Downtown Development Authority, the Central Florida Speech and Hearing Center, and the Barney Barnett School of Business and Free Enterprise at Florida Southern College, among others. Currently, Franklin is serving his first term as a Lakeland city commissioner and mayor pro tem.
