AL Senate: Tommy Tuberville (R)
PROFILE
Having served as a college football coach for over 20 years, Alabama resident Tommy Tuberville is entering the race for the U.S. Senate with no prior political experience on his resume.
Tuberville has spent the past 20 years as a college football coach for a variety of universities including University of Miami, Texas Tech University and most recently University of Cincinnati. By the time he retired in 2016 he was considered one of the top 50 football coaches of all time.
In April 2019 Tuberville officially announced his candidacy for the Senate, beating out former Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions for the nomination. Tuberville is a lifelong Republican.
As the son of a World War Two veteran and Purple Heart Recipient, Tuberville is a strong supporter of veterans. One issue of concern is how to assist veterans in re-entering the workforce and society, in addition to providing them with access to high-quality psychological and therapeutic care.
Tuberville currently resides in Alabama with his wife Suzanne. They have two sons, Tucker, an investment banker in New York and Troy, who is currently a student at Auburn University.
